Goose Neck Nest
If you think you had a rough time on the toilet last
week you should see what geese go through.Starting in 2004 we had
a pair of geese start to nest on a little 5'X5' peninsula that goes out into the
water. The first year they laid eggs but some animal
took them out mere days before they were to hatch. In 2005, the
first ever Journey Wildlife Reserve goslings were born.
Now I cannot even explain to you how much poop two geese can put out. It's
probably a bucket a day for both of them. I mean it really blows one's mind to
think that two little bird can put out this much slop.
Whatever they eat comes right out the other end...
The geese are getting more friendly, they let you get somewhat close
to them BEFORE THEY START HISSING LIKE A COBRA. I don't try to interact
with them too much so that they get friendly to humans though.
I figure that I'll let this pair nest a few more
years before I invite them over for Christmas dinner.
