The "Paddle Boat"

Picture of Sam, Jason, and Rose on the Journey Wildlife Reserve paddle boat

Ok so it's not the most practical boat for the pond but heck IT'S A PADDLE BOAT and how cool is that.

I remember going to the local amusement park when I was younger and seeing the paddle boats. The amusement park charged something like $15.00 an hour so we didn't ride much. When we did it seem like it only lasted 5 minutes. I remember all the times looking at all the other kids on the paddle boats so it was the motivation to get my own paddle boat.

The paddle boat is a 2002 Pelican Riviera. It weighs somewhere around 145 pounds and can carry a load of 5 people or 800 pounds. I keep it in the shed where it fits nicely.

The paddle boat does have official uses though. There's plenty of cattails trying to sprout up around the edges of the pond. They sprout just far enough out that you can't get them from shore. The paddle boat makes for one heck of a cattail removing vessel. Geneva paddles backwards and steers and I rip them up from the back of the boat. Geneva doesn't have sea legs yet so she gets pretty scared when the boat starts rocking. =)
