The Stone Steps

Picture of the waterfall at Journey Wildlife Reserve

We used to be a simple wildlife reserve with only two paths - THEN WE GOT FANCY AND ADDED A THIRD.

Connected to the path from the bridge that crosses Coal Mine Pass was another unnamed path used to get to the the Big Pavilion. To get to this path you had to repel up a MONSTER four foot hill. While I can do most anything, this hill might as well have been 40 feet when I had been drinking all day at a picnic. I had three choices: 1) Sell the reserve and drink at my house where there aren't any hills, 2) have Geneva carry me when I drink, 3) build stone steps.

Since Geneva can barely walk herself on the reserve, even when she's not drunk, and I wasn't about to sell the reserve, I decided to undertake WHAT WAS GOING TO BE ONE OF THE MOST AMBITIOUS PROJECTS OF ALL TIME - STONE STEPS.

The steps took me a few days. They are actually made out of concrete and cinderblocks and I overlaid them with sandstone. It was a fun project and I recommend that if you have any Italian in you to help with mortar laying YOU SHOULD BUILD SOME.
